The Italian restaurant Amano, designed by McKinney+Windeatt Architects, has won the “Supreme” award of 2017 Interior Awards, and the title of best project in the category of “Hospitality”.
The event, which took place in Auckland last June, gives recognition to the best commercial interior designs in New Zealand, in the last five years.
McKinney & Windeatt Architects' project represents an audacious and respectful example of how to restore an old, industrial, Victorian storehouse. The restaurant/bakery occupies a vast area on the ground floor of two historical buildings in Britomart, the very heart of Auckland. It was conceived as a sequence of intimate spaces, with a superior attention to hand-made details.
The design is a celebration of craftmanship and offers a selection of unique natural materials in combination with carefully chosen pieces of furniture.
In this stylish environment Marcel chairs from Ritzwell's collection, designed by Shinsaku Miyamoto, find their perfect collocation. Made of natural walnut and leather, Marcel chairs are the perfect mix of elegance and comfort, with their pleasant seating and soft, embracing back rest. Marcel chairs have colors and materials to integrate smoothly in the commercial interior design they are housed in.
